The ARH-1 TIGER Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter is currently being produced for the
Australian Army by Australian Aerospace in Brisbane, Queensland. Twenty-two of these awesome combat
helicopters are being delivered from December 2004. The majority of the aircraft will be based in
Darwin, NT at a new purpose built facility as part of the Armys 1st Aviation Regiment. The first
batch of aircraft are carrying out training at the Army Aviation Training School in Oakey, Queensland
prior to the aircraft being deployed to their operating base in early 2007.
Following a meeting at PACIFIC 2004 with the Tiger Project Director, a prototype model of the TIGER was
constructed. With information supplied by the TIGER Project Team, further modifications were done and a
comprehensive modification kit was produced to convert the 1:48 scale Italeri kits into the ARH-1 version.
DMG have supplied 60 models to Australian Aerospace for presentation to dignitaries.
The models weapons fit represent the full range of weapons that the TIGER can be armed with including Hellfire
Anti-Armour Missiles and 2.75 inch unguided rockets. The helicopter also carries an internally mounted
30mm gun system. The models have been painted in the Australian Armys three tone dark tan, olive
green and black camouflage scheme.
