In August 2012 we were contacted by a company in Brisbane asking if we could repair and repaint some large models they had acquired through an auction.
They needed the large 1:50 scale A330 models (two of) and an A320 model repainted in VIRGIN Australia, JetStar and TIGER Airways colours.
The models needed lots of repair work done and once this was completed, they were completely repainted with the fuselages being painted in white for VIRGIN and TIGER and metallic silver for the JetStar aircraft. Whilst I was repainting, Teresa reproduced all the new logos in self adhesive vinyl (sign writing material), including the intricate work on the Virgin’s lady which was hours of work for her, and got them ready to add to the fuselages and tails. As the models had to be repainted we also had to produce decals of all the passenger windows, access and cargo doors and emergency exits.
The vinyl decals went on beautifully and then a couple of coats of clear gloss lacquer were applied over the lot to seal them in. Once dry all three models looked great and like brand new.
I delivered them personally to the client in Brisbane to avoid the risk of any damage to the models and we fitted them to their display tripod bases. The models were presented at their last board meeting of the year later that day and all were very impressed with their new look models.
We have recently refurbished another A320 model which has been completed as one belonging to JetStar Airlines.
