All our model ships have to start somewhere and this is normally with a cast fibre-glass hull. These high quality precision hulls are made by Tim Amos at Southern Cross Models, located near Port Macquarie on the NSW coast, a true craftsman.
Tim’s hulls are full of detail, including all the plating (especially on the WW II ships), with a perfect thickness and include location points for all the underwater fittings. He has produced over a dozen high quality hulls for DMG including all the hulls for our LHD (HMAS CANBERRA LHD-02), our 1:100 and 1:250 scale AWD (HMAS HOBART DDG-39) models as well as some new projects currently being completed.He has produced a beautiful range of hulls of both WW II battleships, cruisers, destroyers, as well as developing a huge range of modern warships including Aircraft Carriers, Cruisers, Destroyers, Frigates and Corvettes.
